Your personal English speaking driver will be waiting for You at the arrivals of the airport for Your transfer to the Hotel. He will be holding a sign with Your name on it.

Zagreb

Croatia’s capital and the largest city in the country, is a typical Central European town. It grew out of two medieval settlements that flourished for centuries on neighboring hills. Zagreb’s written history dates to the year 1094, when a diocese was established there. The classicist and secessionist facades of its historical nucleus exude the lofty spirit of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, but here and there one can also discern the contours of the panoramas of Prague. Almost all of the main sites of the city and cultural venues are located in the very center, which teems with charming coffee houses, fine restaurants, garden restaurants, and lovingly tended parks like.

Jewish Tour of Sarajevo

10:00AM

You will meet Your professional personal guide at the lobby of Your Hotel for Your Jewish sightseeing tour

The end of 15th century in Europe marked the end of the peaceful life of people belonging to many nations. After the fall of Granada in 1492, the persecution of Jews from Spain and Portugal began and some of them decided to make Sarajevo their next place of residence, since Bosnia and Herzegovina was one of the few territories in Europe that welcomed Jews after their expulsion from Spain. The Jewish Tour is the perfect place to find out just how the Sarajevans got new neighbors in the 16th
century – the Sephardim Jews, and what day to day life was like in Sijavus Pasha’s quarter, as well as how they adapted to a life in new and quite different surroundings. Get a general idea about the things they use to do , the songs they use to sing and the culinary specialties they use to make as well as what Ladino language is and sounds like. The aim of the tour is to tell you the entire story of the Jewish community in Sarajevo, the Sephardim and Askhenazim Jews: their life, happiness, suffering, persecution, their eternal resting place, as well as the struggle of death and suffering.

The Jewish community of Sarajevo

The Jewish community of Sarajevo, the entire Bosnia and Herzegovina really, has a rich and colorful history on this territory. Surviving the World War Two and the Yugoslav wars , after having been established here as a result of the Spanish inquisition and having nearly been destroyed by the Holocaust, Judaism and Jews have secured their place in Bosnia and Herzegovina as one of the oldest communities with the most diverse history in the former Yugoslav states. The first Sephardi Jews arrived to the Bosnian territory in the period from year 1492 to 1947 from Spain and Portugal as a result of inquisitions in those countries, as they were welcomed into the country by Sultan Bayezid II, who opened the door for all the Jews who were able to reach its territory. The first Askhenazim Jews arrived from Hungary in 1686, when the Ottoman Turks were entirely expelled from Hungary. The entire community prospered in Bosnia, living side by side with their Muslim neighbors, the country becoming the largest Sephardi Jewry centers outside Spain. The Jewish tour includes a visit to a variety of sites dedicated to the Jewish community including a museum, synagogues, cultural center and a cemetery.

Belgrade is the capital city of Serbia and has a population of around 1.7 million. The city lies on two international waterways, at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers, which surround it on three sides. Because of this position, Belgrade is fittingly referred to as the Gateway to the Balkans and the Door to Central Europe.
